Background

Sager Group began acquiring the land for development, and amalgamated the site when it consisted of nothing more than some small shops, a petrol station and a public house.

We headed up the design process, while appointing CZWG as the lead architect.

The brief was to create a landmark building that existed in harmony with its surroundings, and maximised the use of the development plot.

The Scheme

Planning permission was obtained for 72 apartments, two-storeys of underground parking and storage space, and 36,000 square feet of commercial and leisure space, including a high-end fitness facility.

The site has a unique triangular shape. Standing freely from any other buildings, with long south and west frontages neighbouring the wholesome green park spaces of Fortune Green Road.

Features

The development’s prominent horizontal curve is counterbalanced by the vertical stack of balconies, which sit elegantly above the various entrances to the building.

The facade of Fortune Green itself is also generously curved, with cantilevered balconies and a pavilion-like element situated under a pronounced, copper-coloured roof.

On the west side, the outlines undulate like beautiful ocean waves, allowing passers by to capture both the magnificent surrounding views, and the full rays of the sun.

The rear of the building provides onlookers a striking view of its long, winding lines, while the upper floors have spectacular panoramic views across the capital, including all the modern and heritage architecture of central London.

Awards

The design was awarded ‘Best New Large Development’ by the Evening Standard and was runner up in the ‘Best Mixed Use Regeneration Development of the Year’ award at The Daily Telegraph British Home Awards.
